Maggie Grace is an American actor who was born Margaret Grace Denig in 1983. Her most well-known roles are Shannon Rutherford, a character in ABC's Lost series and Kim Mills from the Taken trilogy. Following the divorce of her parents the actress left Worthington Ohio in order to settle in Los Angeles. Even though she had financial difficulties, her 2001 debut was as Rachel's Room's main character. Following her win of an Young Artist Award in 2002 for her portrayal of Murder In Greenwich of a 15-year old Martha Moxley as a murder victim, Grace was able to win. In 2004 Grace was selected to portray Shannon Rutherford in the television series Lost where she acted as a principal cast member for the first two seasons, and was awarded an award called the Screen Actors Guild Award shared with the ensemble cast. Grace quit the show in 2005 to focus on a more significant role in movies, and had a role in the film Taken alongside Tom Welling as Kim Mills in the film Taken. She also appeared as a character in Suburban Girl The Jane Austen Book Club and also, as Liam Neeson's Kim Mills as Kim Mills for Taken. The same character was played by Grace in Taken 2 and Taken 3 (both in 2012). Grace was back on the Lost series in the final two episodes playing Shannon. In 2013, she appears in the episode Californianation of the 6th season. The role she plays is Faith, a groupie who is a muse for celebrities and attracts the eye from Hank Moody (David Duchovny). She's the child of Stephen Gyllenhaal (director) and Naomi Achs (producer), as well as younger that Jake Gyllenhaal. In her teens She began working as a small part-time actress for her father. She also appeared in Donnie Darko along with her twin brother. Then she appeared on the screen in Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind and Mona Lisa Smile (both 2002). Gyllenhaal was praised by critics for her performance as the main character actress in Secretary (2002) as well as in Sherrybaby (2006), an erotic romance drama drama and Sherrybaby (2006). The actress received a nomination from the Golden Globe Award. The year 2006 was the time she had a number of commercially successful movies including World Trade Center. However the role she played in the role of Rachel Dawes that brought her wider attention in The Dark Knight (2008). In 2009, she received a nomination as the Best Supporting Actress at the Academy Awards for her role of a single mother in Crazy Heart. The subsequent roles she has played include Nanny McPhee as well as The Big Bang and Hysteria. She also was the role of a Secret Service Agent in White House Down which was an action thriller that was released in 2013. She also played she was a musician on the set of Frank (2014) as well as her role as the main character for the lead role in The Kindergarten Teacher, a drama that was released in the year of 2018. Gyllenhaal composed and directed her first feature film, The Lost Daughter in 2021. The drama about psychological issues won the Best Screenplay Award from the Venice International Film Festival. The film was also nominated for The Academy Award of Best Adapted Screenplay.
